This week’s Dance First Insight is from La Boutique Fantasque!
Attention dancers and ballet lovers of all ages!
If you and your family enjoy extraordinary ballet, you don’t want to miss
presented by New Ballet. A 1919 ballet originally choreographed by Leonide Massine, “The Enchanted Toyshop” has been re-imagined with choreography by Dalia Rawson and animation by Atlquetzalli (Ketzi) Rivera.
Do you ever look for the silver lining? Have you ever found a blessing hidden inside of adversity? Why is it that limits sometimes point the way to freedom?
Seems like the sage was on to something when they said the universe behaves like one of those big yin-yang symbols. The deluge of darkness generally hides a sliver of light. The question is, how much time and distance has to pass before one can see the big picture in context?
Obviously, if you haven’t been living under a rock, you are well aware of the travails of our times, not the least of which is the unjust war going on in Europe or the news that women’s rights are going on the chopping block here in the US.
Effective communication calls upon every aspect of our embodiment…our
hands, our eyes, our hearts, our breath…the creative intelligence of the
body.
Between the head and feet of any given person is a billion miles of
unexplored wilderness: it is our intention to provide a map to guide us
into the deepest part of ourselves in order to access the truest,
clearest energetic communication.
A superbloom is defined as :
“a rare desert botanical phenomenon in which an unusually high
proportion of wildflowers whose seeds have lain dormant in desert soil
germinate and blossom at roughly the same time. The phenomenon is
associated with an unusually wet rainy season.”
This week’s Dance First Insight is from Ilona Glinarsky & Living Tango!
Originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, Ilona is no stranger to music and dance. Growing up in the former Soviet Union she was exposed to dance and music from the age of four.
A classically trained pianist, Ilona has a deep understanding and
appreciation for music and rhythm. Prior to her immigration to the US in
1979, she was trained to accompany dancers with the world-renowned
Ukrainian dance troupe, Virsky Ukranian Dance Ensemble.
This is where Ilona developed her true passion and reverence for
discipline, form and creative expression, qualities that set all great
dancers apart from the rest.
What’s the difference between a friend and an acquaintance? Why do some connections withstand the test of time? How can you tell which friendships are worth the effort?
Let’s face it, relationships run the gamut. From the flimsiest flicker of recognition from your favorite barista to torrid and tempestuous romances that are tested by the hands of time, we humans swim in a sea of interpersonal connections.
When you’re in your younger years, say, grade school through college, your friends can be one of the most important factors in your life. Having some Besties in your formative years can quite literally save your life.
