Wednesday, December 21 @10am-12pm PT | 6-8pm UTC
Dance with us on the Winter Solstice to uplift yourself and raise
your frequency. Our aim is to create inner and outer harmony: in
ourselves, in our relationship with the Earth, with Spirit and with one
another through guided and free-style dance, conscious movement, and
meditation.
We will focus on the element of earth with sensual yet rigorous dance,
and explore a poem by Rumi that speaks powerfully to our times.
This week’s Dance First Insight is from Lorca Simons & Live Wire!
SOUL REVIVAL: A Live Wire Experiment Unearthed
Let’s gather to whisper and circle from the ground our rites of restoration. Let’s stand and shout to rally the forces that revitalize our spirited dreams into creative realities.Let’s surrender our bones to the beat that can hold it all and regenerate our faith in the mystery.Let’s deliver our stories from the heart of the feet to resurrect the light and shadows that seep, shine and soar through us.Let’s invite spirit to be our barometer and witness in this exploration and celebration of what it means to be soulfully revived.
Rooted in the Waves Map with live, interactive and in the moment explorations in a grounded container, and concentrated in 5Rhythms Ritual Theater perspectives Lorca and Peter, in renaissance, will invoke this dynamic practice’s principal: If you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor. Setting your compass for the unpredictable come and be prepared for individual and collective fascination, radical unity and edgy grace. All are welcome to join. No prior dance or 5Rhythms experience is necessary. This workshop will count towards as one weekend (3 days) of Electives towards the 5Rhythms teacher training path.

“5Rhythms Live Wire is the essence of the creative process, an
invitation into the magical realm of possibility. Embodied movement is
transformational…it becomes a playful opportunity to step into another
way of being. When we unlock the stories hidden within us, we become the
thread that connects all of us.” -Peter Fodera

Rhythms Ritual Theater experience of individual and collective
fascination, radical unity and edgy grace.”-Martha Peabody
Today I want you to help me answer a question. I’m trying to figure out what other artifacts common to us in the modern world bring on as strong of feelings of connection as books or records.
The word “love” is used here both for the kind of passionate feelings you may have for another person, a pet, or even a place and the kind of “love” you can have for some object or a collection in your life that brings you continual enrichment and joy.
What does it mean to love someone else or a critter or even a small corner of the earth? You pay attention to their needs and desires, you provide a safe haven for them, you plant a garden.
“Stuff”, however assumes a different role in our life. Whatever the tool, toy, or totem may be, without our personal attention to it it just becomes someone else’s dusty junk.
I’m posing this question today in part due to my own myopia about the matter. I am beyond partial to my vinyl collection. I’m the same way to a lesser degree about books. And over the past few years, my darling partner Isabelle has introduced me to the world of jigsaw puzzle fanatics.
This is an IN PERSON workshop.
The body is a living narrative, an interconnected web of our physical, emotional, and intellectual experiences. Every organ, bone, body part, and movement holds an energy, a feeling, a memory that calls our attention and seeks expression. With curiosity and care to the stories our bodies hold, we become embodied artists, choreographers of our life experience.
4 Fridays: March 17, 24, 31, April 7 | 10-11:30AM PT | $70/series
Each part of our bodies is unique: each has developed specific functions, moves in particular ways, and has its own stories to tell and dances to dance. In this series, we focus on a new area of the body each week. For each body part, we study anatomy and body mechanics, we explore its movement somatically, and we allow its wisdom to express through drawing, creative writing, and dance. By exploring our anatomy experientially and artistically, we connect more deeply with our bodies, creativity, and lived experience.

Begin the new year diving into the wisdom of your heart. From a physiological perspective the human heart is an organ central to the circulatory system. From an archetypal perspective the human heart is an organ central to our imagination, intellect, and aesthetic sensitivity.
“When enough people move together in a common pulse with a common purpose, an amazing force takes over-a power that can renew, inspire, teach, and heal” ~ Anna Halprin

Anyone else feeling relieved? Like there was a big storm on the horizon but then it fizzled out?
I’m guessing you know what it’s like to have a vague sense of dread. It’s no fun to live under constant predictions of impending doom.
It’s no secret that the entire world was paying attention to our election. It was supposed to be a rout, the Dems were done for, a Red Wave would wash away all of these “radical socialist ideas.“
Our hearts are coming from a very distant past. Very different cultures, races and traditions. We are the creation of many creations before us. And, as they did, we all experience emotions and we respond to them in many different ways, depending on our own personalities, and in fact from where we learned to deal with them and how to eventually approach, judge and even control them.
To live fully today we must become attuned to ourselves — our physical, emotional, and spiritual condition — so that we may ride the eddies in our times gracefully. This is the year we must step forward and own both our weaknesses and our strengths. This is the year that we must acknowledge our past so we can live fully in the present. The world is calling more loudly than ever for a new humanity

This week’s Dance First Insight is from Dr. Birgitte Tan!
Many people ask “What makes you go from being a veterinarian oncologist to become a certified grief specialist and life success coach? And why do you create Dance Away Sadness: Move Beyond Your Grief™?”
The answer is because I feel people deserve to learn the skill and tools for transforming traumas and failures into victories and thriving joyful living, and do that effortlessly, quickly, and with fun.
When did you get started on the Internet? Are you what they call an early adopter, or were you late to the party? Well, if you weren’t born yesterday you’ve seen a lot of change, both online and in our world in general.
Remember Friendster? How about AOL or Yahoo chat rooms? I’ll bet you even had a MySpace profile at one point or another.
The 5Rhyhtms Heartbeat map is all about you and me. It’s about expression, reaching out, connection and the power of loving.
Generally we all have learned to suppress emotions and feelings and with that our breath.

This week’s Dance First Insight is from Kristen Mangione and LÎLA – Dance Alchemy for the Soul!
Kristen Mangione, the Dance Alchemist, is a visionary dance artist whose career spans over two decades in the arenas of professional dance, the healing arts and metaphysical studies.
How do you define your work as a creative person? What kind of context do you put your work into? Do you have some sort of metaphysical yardstick to size yourself up with?
There are all sorts of ways to see yourself, especially in terms of being some sort of creative type. Whether you call yourself a dancer, a writer, a musician, painter, or entrepreneur, the need to know where you fit in the big picture is universal.
