Dance of Oneness®: Living in Harmony Monthly Live Online Workshop

Dance to uplift yourself and raise your frequency. Our aim is to create inner and outer harmony: in ourselves, in our relationship with the Earth, with Spirit and with one another through guided and free-style dance, conscious movement, and meditation.
We will focus on the element of fire with rigorous yet sensual dance, and explore a poem by Rumi that speaks powerfully to our times.

Dance First Member Spotlight on Cathy Ryan and Open Floor!

This week’s Dance First Insight is from Cathy Ryan and Open Floor!

At the age of 19 after an intensive and wonderful two years actors training at the Samuel Beckett Centre, Trinity College, Dublin I spent many years working as an actor. Time included work with the Royal Court Theatre London, the Library Theatre Manchester and the Riverside Studios London. I continued to do workshops and further trainings with Philippe Gaulier, Theatre De Complicite, Theatre Du Soleil and the Corn Exchange, drawn to the physicality of being present through an awake and receptive body, ready to respond, listen, embody and share different aspects of the human being as an actor.

In my late teens and twenties I travelled a lot in Europe, Africa, Mexico, South America and Nepal. I read a lot, wrote some, watched a host of cinema and followed my nose, heart, longing and curiosity about what it is to be a human being from the roots of my liberal Catholic Irish background to dancing and teaching the 5 Rhythms®, Shamanic practice and Open Floor embodied movement practice.

Tuesday Love to your Reason & Rights

“ The rights of everyone are diminished when the rights of one are threatened.”

 ~ John F. Kennedy

Have you been paying attention to the news lately? Maybe you caught wind of the big controversy regarding pregnant people? Yes, it’s a huge issue, and it affects all of us regardless of gender.

Just because only one sex can bear children, it doesn’t mean that bringing a new life into the world only concerns half of us.

When it comes to women’s health, bodily autonomy, and the question of choice, I firmly believe that men have no right to interfere or even have an opinion in the decision. However, whether or not the choice is made to bring a baby into the world, men become stakeholders in the process by default.

That’s why the current political controversy over whether or not to give men 20 weeks of paid paternity leave is so important. That’s right, there are some people who are actually against the idea of giving a man five months of paid time off from work in order to support his partner and bond with the newborn child.

We’re aiming for a group of dancers who have both the will and the experience to focus their work in a more specific way than is possible in a conventional workshop setting.

Moving Paths Autumn 2022

Moving Paths is a connection builder, within ourselves and between each other. It’s local, small-scale, real, sometimes messy and confronting, often deeply moving. Much like love.

Using movement, meditation and speaking, we enquire into the truth of the moment within oneself, with each other, and for our place in the world.

You commit to a cycle of several weeks, 3 hours on a Wednesday morning. You’re with the same group of people for that time, then it opens up to newcomers if there’s space for the next cycle.

Dance First Member Spotlight on Azul & Dancers Awakening Love!

This week’s Dance First Insight is from Azul & Dancers Awakening Love!

Have you heard about the OneDanceTribe or Dancers Awakening Love events? If you haven’t attended one of these extravaganzas in the past, maybe you have heard about the magic that happens there and feel drawn to experience it.

There is definitely a special quality to them!

Part of the magic is simply manifesting from the motion of coming together in diversity, overcoming issues of scarcity and separation and joining in the current of abundance and collaboration. And part of it is springing from the fantastic mix of an experienced faculty of different schools and lineages, who contribute their mastery and offer it from their hearts with the intention of building a unified field.

Tuesday Love to your Talismanic Tokens

“ Remember that the most valuable antiques are dear old friends.”

 ~ H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Have you ever heard of a character named Hariakhan Baba? Maybe you’ve heard of him by another name; Babaji Mahavatar? If it wasn’t for the hard work and research of a fellow named Sri Mahendra Brahmachari a lot less people would know about this unusual saint.

Babaji was known by a number of other names; Mahamuni, Trayambak Baba, Shiva Baba, Babaji Maharaj, etc. One time he was in a village that was hungry and out of the ghee needed to cook. He dipped water from the stream and replenished the kitchen with pure ghee. He told the villagers to put some ghee back in the river later.

Devotees witnessed him bathing in two different places at once. One time a man who encountered him as a young man in his twenties met him again 60 years later and he hadn’t aged a bit. Once, when invited to visit a village, he told his host he wished to not stay in a house. The villagers prepared an area and built a fire. It was the month of January and raining very hard. They were astonished to see that it was raining everywhere but the place that Babaji was sitting and that the fire was burning without any hindrance from water or wind.

Dance First Member Spotlight on Let Your Yoga Dance for Special Populations!

Megha’s interest in offering Let Your Yoga Dance® for Special Populations began many years ago while teaching her regular Let Your Yoga Dance® classes. People with Parkinson’s Disease began to come to her classes, so many in fact, that she realized she should offer classes targeting this population. Her most vital student with Parkinson’s, Ed Rudman, lived in Richmond, MA and Sarasota, Florida. He wanted to see more Let Your Yoga Dance® for Parkinson’s classes because he was using the practice to keep himself healthy and happy. “Let Your Yoga Dance helps lessen my symptoms,” he said, “and best of all, it makes me smile and laugh. People with Parkinson’s don’t smile very much.”

Tuesday Love to your Iterating Ideas

“ Daring ideas are like chessmen moved forward. They may be beaten, but they may start a winning game.”

 ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Have you ever noticed how ideas iterate? How many different transformations can a seed of thought make before blossoming into reality? Why is iteration better than procrastination?

You’ve heard of an endless loop, right? You might have even found yourself stuck in one at one point or another. That’s when you’ve got an idea or a creative project going and you keep changing your mind so much you never make any forward progress.

Or sometimes it happens the other way around. You run with an idea so fast that miles after you cross the finish line you look back and think about all the other ways it could’ve been done.

But second guessing yourself after the fact is better than never getting anything done in the first place. Like the sage said, “perfection is the enemy of excellence.”
