In this workshop, we will look at the relationship between movement and video to expand our experience of combining artistic mediums for self-expression. Taking self-portrait materials and the Tamalpa Life/Art Process as a foundation for our multi-media explorations, we’ll use movement, writing, drawing, hands-on camera work, and editing to explore the technical and creative aspects of making a movement video.
As directors of these videos, we will look at how we shape our viewers’ experiences through the use of composition, timing, framing, editing, and storytelling. We can bring our audiences into close intimate spaces of our lives, and invite them into beloved environments surrounding us. The stage can be flexible and changing, the view microscopic or vast.
